Steps To Eliminate Fatigue
As you’ve learned from my Treating and Beating Adrenal Fatigue Report, chronic unmanaged stress is the driving force that causes you to feel rundown and tired. The adrenals are supposed to release cortisol (our stress hormone) when we encounter ongoing stress. Unfortunately, long term to stress can lead to low cortisol production. Once this occurs stress becomes more magnified. This sets up a vicious cycle. Ongoing (even day to day) stress along with the inability to handle the stress, creates more stress.
Some of the Causes Include:
- Chronic stress
- A stressful event
- Negative thinking. Or as Zig Zieglar used to say “stinkin-thinkin”
- Food sensitivities
- Lack of sleep
- Poor diet
- Prolonged periods of extreme diet and exercise (we’re talking fitness competitors, etc.)
Symptoms Include:
- Extreme fatigue
- Brain fog
- Irritability
- Heart palpitations
- Dizziness
- Poor sleep
- Insulin resistance
- Tired but wired (especially at night)
- Low blood pressure
- Unexplained weight gain
- Cravings for sweet or salty foods
- Low libido
- Dark circles under your eyes
- Achy joint sand muscles
It is sometimes impossible to avoid stress. However, we can work on improving how we respond to stress.
Here are some ways to reduce stress, and its affect on your adrenal glands:
- Reduce stress through meditation and or prayer
- Avoid processed foods, sugar, and caffeine which stress our digestion, liver detox, and create inflammation
- Use healthy fats like coconut oil, ghee, extra virgin olive oil, avocadoes, etc. Avoid trans fats, vegetable oils which can increase inflammation
- Reduce your toxic load. Anything that may be harmful to your body can be a stressor. Household cleaners, shampoos, soaps, laundry supplies. Try to use more natural products when an option
- Add Himalayan salt to your foods. Salt helps recycle adrenal hormones
- Focus on positive thinking. Hard, I know but spend 10-15 minutes each morning visualizing good health and calmness. Then make time throughout the day to stop and catch yourself, when thinking negative or stressful thought. Take 10-15 deep breaths. Say a positive affirmation or just remember this to shall pass.
- Keep your blood sugar stable by eating at regular intervals throughout the day. Don’t skip meals.
- Move daily (yoga, walking, swimming, etc.). Exercise in moderation is a wonderful way to reduce stress and help restore optimal adrenal function
- Be kind to yourself
- Get at least 8 hours a night. Try to be in bed by 10pm. No later than 11pm
If you’re struggling with getting a good night’s sleep each night try using sublingual melatonin 3mg-10mg at bedtime.
Practice good hygiene.
If you need help winding down at bedtime (reduce mind chatter) try using Delta Sleep 2-6 capsules at bedtime to hel you relax and fall asleep. Delta Sleep can be used during the night to help you fall back to sleep as well. It won’t make you feel dopey, hung over or sleepy the next day even if you use it during the night and need to wake up in 2 and half to 3 hours.
One of the best ways to wind down for bed is use blue block glasses. These glasses prevent light from electronic devices from depleting your sleep hormone melatonin.
