Stop Migraine Headaches For Good

What You Should Know About Headaches And Migraines

Over 38 million Americans suffer with migraine headaches.

They are three times more common in women than men and often run in families. Migraines can begin in adolescence but are more common in early adulthood. They often fade away later in life, but can strike once again at any time.

A migraine can cause severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head. Migraines are often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light, and sound. Migraine attacks can last for hours to days.

An aura can include visual disturbances, flashes of light, blind spots, or other visual disturbances, and or tingling on one side of the face or in an arm or leg, and difficulty speaking.

Examples of migraine aura include:

  •         Visual phenomena, such as seeing various shapes, bright spots or flashes of light
  •         Vision loss
  •         Pins and needles sensations in an arm or leg
  •         Weakness or numbness in the face or one side of the body
  •         Difficulty speaking
  •         Hearing noises or music
  •         Uncontrollable jerking or other movements

After a migraine attack, you might feel drained, confused and washed out for the day.

Migraines may occur once a year. For others it could be two or more times a week. A single episode can last from four hours to three days and is associated with a spasm of the blood vessels that lead to the brain.

Conventional Treatment of Migraines

There is no cure for migraine and prevention is difficult, but treatments can help reduce the number of attacks.

Conventional Medical Treatments for Migraine Headaches

Acute treatments:

  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and/or mild analgesics such as acetaminophen, sometimes combined with caffeine
  • Triptan drugs (eg, sumatriptan, Imitrex)

Preventive treatments (generally for frequent recurring migraines):

  • Blood pressure medications-Beta Blockers, like Inderal
  • Tricyclic antidepressants-Amitriptyline
  • Anticonvulsants-Topamax

Unfortunately prescription drugs to prevent or treat migraines are associated with numerous potentially dangerous side effects.

NSAIDs are associated with bleeding stomach and ulcers. Byron Cryer, MD, a spokesperson for the American Gastroenterological Association, more than half of all bleeding ulcers are caused by NSAIDs.

A person taking NSAIDs is seven times more likely to be hospitalized for gastrointestinal adverse effects. The FDA estimates that 200,000 cases of gastric bleeding occur annually and that this leads to 10,000 to 20,000 deaths each year. NSAIDs more than double a person’s risk of developing high blood pressure, possibly leading to more medication. In one study, 41% of those who had recently started on medication to lower their blood pressure were also taking an NSAID.

Triptans (Imitrex) can cause:

  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Feeling heavy in your face, arms, legs, and chest
  • Feeling sleepy
  • Flushing
  • Muscle weakness
  • Nausea
  • Skin reaction (if you take the triptan as a shot)
  • Tightness in your throat
  • Tingling sensations

According to Mark Houston, MD, associate clinical professor of medicine at Vanderbilt School of Medicine, Beta Blockers including Inderal (propranolol); Lorpressor or Torprol (metoprolol); and Tenormin (atenolol) are associated with:

  • Congestive heart failure
  • Fatigue
  • Heart block
  • Dizziness
  • Depression
  • Decreased heartbeat and function
  • Cold extremities,
  • Paresthesia (a feeling of “pins and needles”)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Drowsiness
  • Insomnia,
  • Headaches (ironically)
  • Poor memory
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Colitis
  • Wheezing,
  • Bronchospasm
  • Raynaud’s syndrome (burning, tingling, pain, numbness, or poor circulation in the hands and feet)
  • Muscle cramps
  • Impotence,
  • Postural hypotension
  • Elevated triglycerides
  • High blood sugar
  • And more……

Common side effects of Topamax include:

anxiety, ataxia, confusion, diarrhea, diplopia, dizziness, drowsiness, dysphasia, fatigue, lack of concentration, memory impairment, nausea, nervousness, tingling and numbness, speech disturbance, depression, visual disturbance, weight loss, and mood changes.

These potential side effects are alarming!

Triggers for Migraine

No one really knows what causes migraine, but it may be an inherited condition. Attacks are almost certainly triggered by a combination of factors, such as:

  • diet – cheese, chocolate, citrus fruits, alcohol (especially red wine)
  • sleep – too little or too much
  • menstrual cycle
  • physiochemical – excessive heat, light, noise or certain chemicals
  • emotional causes – stress, excitement or fatigue
  • relaxation (weekend migraines) – often triggered by a period of stress and overwork followed by relaxation.

Hormones and Migraine

Migraines often occur in the few days prior to or following their menstrual period. Some studies suggest that reduced levels of the sex hormone estrogen around the time of menstruation may be to blame.

Menopause often reduces or eliminates chronic migraines.

However, based on my almost three decades treating patients with chronic migraines, I’ve found that the three main triggers are musculoskeletal disorders in the spine or cranium, food allergies and missed or mismanaged thyroid conditions.

  • Getting evaluated by a chiropractor, who specializes in migraines is recommended.
  • Food allergy tests to find the foods that may be triggering your migraines can be incredibly helpful.
  • And last but not least having a thorough thyroid test including free and total T3 and T4, T3 uptake, reverse T3, TSH, and thyroid antibodies is recommended.

This over the counter, all natural supplement has been PROVEN to DRAMATICALLY REDUCE THE FREQUENCY AND INTENSITY OF MIGRAINES

Through years of trial and error I’ve found that a special form of butterbur mixed with feverfew consistently helps 80% of my migraine patients dramatically reduce the severity and frequency of their migraines.

Studies show that butterbur reduces the frequency and severity of migraines.

This is why the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society have endorsed the use of a butterbur extract made from underground parts of the plant, like the root or rhizome, to reduce the frequency of migraines.

It’s important to know that not all butterbur is safe!

The butterbur extract researchers used was standardized to 15% petasin and isopetasin (the active ingredients in butterbur) and was free of chemicals called pyrrolizidine alkaloids.

Some butterbur products may contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) which can damage the liver, lungs, and blood circulation, and possibly cause cancer.

The Essential Therapeutics Migra Q migraine formula is PA free and has no known side effects. It is safe to take with other medications and supplements and has a decade of proven positive results!

I’ve found that by combining PA free, standardized butterbur, like what’s in the Migra Q migraine formula, with a specialized form of the pain blocking anti-inflammatory herb feverfew, 80% of my patients and customers report a DRAMATIC reduction in the severity and frequency of their migraine headaches.

Most report considerable improvement, often total elimination of migraines,  within days of starting this all-natural supplement.

As a past migraine sufferer I know all to well how migraines can totally ruin your life. The intense unrelenting pain, draining fatigue, nausea, and aftermath make life difficult to unbearable.

I would have walked through a roaring fire, consulted a shaman, done anything to get rid of my migraines.

Fortunately, through trial, error I found out about this special combination of butterbur and feverfew DRAMATICALLY reduces the frequency and intensity of migraine headaches. The majority of my patients have found that Migra Q has TOTALLY ELIMINATED their chronic migraines!!
