Dr. Murphree Talks Hoshimoto’s Thyroiditis

Low thyroid or hypothyroidism is a common condition associated with fibromyalgia. In fact, I find that over 60% of my patients have a problem with their thyroid. Most are never diagnosed or treated properly.

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the thyroid tissue. Eventually the inflammation triggered by this condition can destroy the thyroid leading to hypothyroidism.

Symptoms of Hashimoto’s are similar to both fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism including pain, fatigue, nerve pain, tingling, itching pain, brain fog, anxiety, depression, irritable bowel, etc.
