Insanity …

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” — Albert Einstein

Dr. Rodger Murphree's Fibro Doctor: What is Your WHYIf you continue to do what you are doing now, taking the same drugs, listening to the same doctors, dabbling in vitamins supplements (little of this, a little of that), looking on the Internet for new fibro “cures,” visiting a different specialist every month (here take this drug), getting the same advice, the same massages, adjustments, physical therapy, searching for one more book to read that puts it altogether, what will your fibromyalgia symptoms be like 6 months from now?

How will your health be one year, two years, or five years from now? Will you be healthier, free of pain, have more energy, think clearly, and be free of life crippling anxiety, depression, and or the gloom of poor health?

After specializing in fibromyalgia for the last 17 plus years, authoring 3 books on the subject for patients and doctors, I sadly find that patients who don’t change the course they are on, who continue to believe there is a magic pill, book or new therapy around the corner that will help them become symptom free, will still be sick, or will become sicker year after year.

Why-because traditional medicine is a dead end for fibromyalgia. Drug therapy alone fails to correct the causes of fibromyalgia. Drugs don’t make you healthy. They can be helpful and sometimes absolutely needed, but drugs don’t correct the causes and they don’t make you healthy. Getting healthy is the only way to beat fibromyalgia and get your life back. A half hazard little of this and a little of that supplement program from a book or recommended by a health professional or worse a store clerk, who doesn’t specialize in fibromyalgia is most likely a long winding road to a dead end-it doesn’t work.

And quite frankly the biggest obstacle for fibromyalgia patients is finding a doctor who knows what the “heck” to do for it-99% of doctors, don’t know anything worth a flip useful reversing fibromyalgia.doc holding pills

Sure they know the drugs that are popular for fibro at the moment (none work long-term) based on attractive drug reps buying them and their staff lunch, but if everyone got well taking Lyrica, Cymbalta, Ambien, or Savella, or the next “new fibro drug,” then you’d be well. It doesn’t work that way. Drugs treat symptoms not causes.

This is why traditional medicine alone fails fibro-you’d have to take a dozen different drugs to cover up all the symptoms associated with fibromyalgia:

Something for sleep, for pain, for IBS, for fatigue, for RLS, to wake up, to speed up, to slow down, for brain fog, for weight gain, then more drugs for all the side effects from all the drugs for managing your symptoms.

Drugs don’t get you well; they cover up symptoms, which then lead to more symptoms.

The other thing you probably already know is that most doctors don’t want to see fibro patients-either they don’t believe it exists or they know they don’t know a “darn” thing about helping those with it, either way they dread seeing fibro patients.

You can continue doing what you’re doing, hoping for a miracle drug, diet, or therapy to come along in the future. You can continue to grin and bear it, put up with the pain, fatigue, brain fog, sleepless night, etc., hoping it will miraculously go away. But will it?

No, unfortunately it only gets worse year and you compromise, withdrawing further into a shell trying to avoid stress-crowds, work, traveling, socializing, friends, and even family, in order to be able to “cope” with the day. This isn’t living this is settling.

A Good Example of Coping – The Frog in Boiling Water

If you drop a frog in a pot of boiling water, he’ll immediately jump out and hop for safety. He knows he doesn’t want to be boiled alive-it is too painful.

Take that same frog and drop him in a pot of warm water, then slowly turn the heat up, little by little-eventually, he’ll boil to death.

Why? Because he settles, he compromises- he rationalizes, and uses excuses to justify staying in the big pot of water.

Are you compromising, settling, trying to ignore all your symptoms-how did you get in such poor shape settling or coping until finally the illness takes over your life?

There will always be an excuse for not making the time for FINALLY getting healthy and reversing your fibromyalgia-money is tight, don’t have time, don’t won’t to try something new, etc.

man headache on bedASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION – how will you feel in one year, two years, five years from now, if you don’t make a stand now to reverse your fibromyalgia? After doing this 17 plus years I can tell you there aren’t many doctors who can help you-Sad but true! Most won’t even attempt to do anything more than push drug after drug, in an attempt to cover up your symptoms and get you out of their office as quickly as they can “here try this and I’ll see in 6 months.”

Settling for poor health day after day until finally there is no joy, no purpose no meaning, no satisfaction in your life. Dragging yourself out of bed, after another sleepless night, struggling with brain fog, low moods, and achy all over pain, day after day.

I know it sounds like doom and gloom but I’m just being real telling you what you already know. I’m asking you to be proactive, make a stand, change course, work with me to get healthy-to get well. You can feel good again. I’ve helped thousands-you could be next.

I want you to feel good again!

I’m passionately asking with all sincerity that you change what you are now doing, which isn’t working, and work with me, one on one, to reverse your fibromyalgia.

I want to remove as many obstacles as I can to help those who want to finally get well. Here are main reasons folks don’t elect to work with me.

  1. Financial – some think they can’t afford to work with me (I think you can’t afford not too). I understand. This is why I’ve reduced my new patient fee from $399 to $79. I’m trying to help as many fibromyalgia patients as I can. I want to eliminate as many barriers for getting well as I can-this is my gift to those who want to get well but just aren’t sure if I’m the right doctor for them. Lowering the initial fee helps reduce financial burden and allows you and I to see if I’m the right doctor for you.
  2. Doubt – some don’t believe they can be helped. I’ve written 3 books on the subject, spent 17 plus years specializing in fibro and have an ongoing track record of helping hundreds and hundreds of patients feel good again. If you doubt you can be helped then listen to the testimonials below.

If I don’t help you, who will?

I know that I am most likely the only doctor who will make the time, listen intently, do the detective work, order the right tests, give you everything I’ve got, in order to get you well. I teach doctors throughout North America and most aren’t interested in fibromyalgia patients – why, because they don’t know what to do with you.

I do. I know how to help those with fibromyalgia. I’ve spent 17 years in the trenches with the most difficult fibro patients, year after year, learning and applying all I could to consistently help patient after patient who usually told me “I’ve been everywhere, including Mayo, John Hopkins, and other prestigious clinics and have tried everything (dozens of drugs, vitamins, therapies), and nothing has helped, you are my last hope.”

If you’ve gone to one of these prestigious medical centers for your fibromyalgia, you know what I’m talking about. They don’t know how to help you other than referring you to more doctors for more tests and prescribing more life draining dangerous drugs.

Don’t wait, or a week a may turn into months, then years. How many years have you been sick? Don’t let your illness continue to run you down, zapping the life out of you, month after month. If not now when?

I was talking with another doctor the other a day, a famous well known doctor, he asked me how many doctors really know how to help those with fibromyalgia get well?” I thought about it for a minute or so, and replied that there is perhaps 100 doctors who have a clue how to really help fibro patients get well, maybe less. He agreed and said he wasn’t one of them and didn’t know anyone other than I who could help these folks.

You can continue to look for a doctor who understands and is willing to do the hard work needed to help you reverse your fibro but it is like searching for a needle in a haystack or you can change course and start down the real path for reversing your fibromyalgia – getting healthy. It is up to you.

I hope you find good health, happiness and purpose in the coming months. If you need help and are ready to feel good again call the clinic for a new patient consult and let’s get busy getting feeling good again.

Hello Dr Murphree, I’ve followed ur website (on & off) for about 3 years. I had a consultation w/ u about a year & a half ago. I had such a good feeling about ur practice, I think its WONDERFUL how you have helped so many people. I’ve told many people about you….one being my sister, which has 2 teenage daughters w/ the dreadful Fibro/Anxiety/Depression. I hope & pray that I can sign up for your program one day soon. I am a firm believer in positive thinking & and prayer 🙂 My sweet sons, Dakota & Dalton have asks so many times thru the years, ‘Why do u hurt all the time Mommy’, or ‘Why are u so tired all the time’ I want to be well someday & I believe God created our bodies to heal themselves (well, in most cases) I take a lot of vitamin supplements but obviously not the right combination. There is rarely a minute out of the day when something, somewhere isn’t hurting. I just admire all of ur hardwork & dedication to the Fibro world! May God bless you in the New Year! 🙂

I am wondering if patients can be solely treated by phone as I live in Minnesota. If so, how much do you charge or how is the cost determined. Like it is stated in the article above I have seen doctors who only want to fill me up with drugs. I am at the point of total exhaustion and all the other symptoms that go with fibromyalgia. I would love to learn more about what your practice can do for me. Thank you, Michelle

Michelle, I started with Dr Murphree just about a month ago and let me tell you its wonderful! Everyone at his clinic are helpful and informative. I email and talk by phone for my treatment/appointments. I never have any problems with getting them to respond quickly and I do have a soft spot for Juno there cause she is so sweet to work with! Dr. Murphree has done his homework trying to help me get better and I think its worth every ounce of time and effort he is challenging me to do! If it wasn’t for him I would still be walking around not knowing about my multiple issues that are underlining the fibro. Thank you Dr. Murphree!

I am skeptical of any dr that says they have the answer. If u have it why isn’t it documented and every dr have it.
I have wasted so much money that I am scared to see u and spend more and more on tests and visits and more supplements. What can you say to me to change my mind. What would be the protocol after that 79 first visit? Do u file insurance?
    Thank u

I am not in your area code Doc. why not publish some insight into what you are finding effective?

CFIDS sufferer for 20 years. What would you suggest to someone who lives in Seattle? Know any doctors here that are as reasonable as you about the finances? I can barely work part time and scrape by…I have a few hundred dollars to my name and daily I am still “on the search for a solution”. I am vigilant with protocols and do my best. I have not, “given up hope” to be well or substantially better~!
I have tried 100 differnt things but too much stress on any given day can put me in a excruciating, exhausted cycle for days and days. I can become so stressed and tired in much pain that by the time I am considering a shower it it time to go back to bed for the 1st of possibly 3 naps in one day and 8-10 hours of unrefreshing sleep at night. I would be willing to pay the $79 just to talk to you for 30 minutes.

David I understand your skepticism. There is no magic pill or protocol…sorry but the only way to beat CFS/Fibro is to get healthy. I go into great detail about this in my free video www,drmvideos.com and my free eBook. My staff is happy to answer any questions 205-879-2383

For the Last 2.5 years, I’ve read everything I can on Fibromyalgia / CFS.
From my little brain, I have figured all these drugs are killing me.
What I have found is “MY BODY” seems to deplete the very important vitamins we all need to survive.
I have now STOPPED eating anything I can not control. I do not want to have more chemicals in my system.Growing my own vegatables, & composting to help grow them safely.
I am now up to almost perfect blood test. My cholesterol has gone down 200 points from making FOOD CHANGES.
I have stopped all the NEWEST Drug du jour . Lyrica, Cymbalta Celexa. etc.
I now take my BP Meds, Soma for muscle tightness, Fiorinal for my migraines that have almost come to a slow down…working on stop.Progerterone. My main pain reliever( life returner) is my Drabinal/Marinol.I do have Morphine for a back up when necessary.
Thank you to the ER DR WALK IN CLINIC when I was at my worst 1000 miles from home. The clinic that finally tested my blood work COMPLETELY. My progesterone was -2.
My D3 was 0. Once I added the vitamins & had the proper test, I am able to participate in my life again. At least to some degree. B12 has given me extra energy that had totally LEFT my body.
What can you do for me that I through much research & many fellows like myself, find out? Do you accept Medicare payment, Medicare ONLY?

Get you well …… at least feeling good again. No offense, but it is unlikely you can fix yourself…not saying it can’t be done but if you’re complicated, it will take years of trial and error. At some point most folks realize they need an expert. I’ve specialized in treating fibro for 18 years … When I wanted to become a master tennis player, I read everything I could and played every day. I got better. It wasn’t until I hired a private coach that I really excelled – learned more in one week than learned in 5 years of competitive tennis.

It is hard to be your own doctor and I don’t recommend it. Find someone you trust and like.

I have fibro, bipolar II, gi issues including candida yeast, major sinus issues ( 6 surgeries ) and migraines & PTSD & on a daily basis & take lots of meds. I never know what is caused by my fibro or my meds or my Bipolar. I am suicidal on a daily basis and would love to be healthy. I have CFS and sleep apnea. I have tried everything. But what makes what you do so differently then what everyone else does? I would be willing to pay 79 for a 30 min talk if I really thought you could help.

I have been using your program for approximately 5 years now and feel the best I have in many years. The longer I follow your suggestions, the better I feel. I have a dr who is willing to let me use your program and has seen the benefit it has had for me. When I slip, as most humans do, I know right away and get back on track as only then do I feel well. I eat as close to nature as possible, can finally sleep so much better and do things I wasn’t able to before I read your book and talked with you and your staff. I am so very thankful I met you in Syracuse and I have been praising your program for years. I was pretty much bed ridden when I started and now I can do almost anything I want to and enjoy life so much more. The longer I take care of myself and do what is necessary for my health, the better I keep feeling. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR CARING!

I have other conditions besides fibro such as bulging, leaking and collapsed disc in my back, psoriatic RA though the test show neg. the symptoms are there, osteoporosis, and possibly systemic Lupus hereditary again individual test are neg. but s/sx are all there, migraines, and PTSD from a hard stressful life since childhood. I take estrogen shots as I had a hysterectomy at 40 yrs of age, and a neurological vision condition called pelenopsia after taking Clomid before invitro, and trazadone for depression. For the fibromyalgia I am one the standard treatment of Cymbalta, Sevella, Klonopin, and Flexiril then I am on pain meds for my back MS long acting and short acting. Are you able to help people with so many other conditions? I would be willing to drive to Alabama if necessary for initial visit if necessary if I were able to feel better enough to hope to go back to work again as an RN. Now, I am on disability and have only Medicare as insurance. Even if I were not able to get off all these medicines due to my back, they say it isn’t bad enough for surgery because though there is narrowing of the spinal canal I do not have a pinched nerve yet. I am encouraged to see a physician you is seeing improvement using natural products; those are my main questions. How would you even begin to address so many issues at the same time? thank you for your response and assistance in this matter.

Unfortunately all my fibro patients I consult with by phone and in clinic have all sorts of conditions associated or along with their fibro. The only way to reduce the symptoms, possibly reverse the conditions is to find through appropriate testing, then start to address the causes of the symptoms-sometimes one thing at a time. The only way to beat these symptoms/problems is to get healthy. Please feel free to call clinic 205-879-2383 they’ll be glad to help.
