Fibromyalgia – Don’t Be Defined By Your Chronic Illness
When you are used to living an active lifestyle, dealing with the pain of a chronic illness can be a devastating blow. When young adults are affected, it can seem like their whole lives are over. It is clear that while you may look like everybody else, there is way more going on under the surface when you are a chronic pain sufferer. If your symptoms are bad enough, you may be limited in the number of hours you can work and in what kinds of fields. Medications will not help you get better; all they can do is make you feel better but not make you BETTER. Drugs don’t make you healthy, getting healthy makes you healthy. I encourage you to learn about a better way, one I’ve used for the last 2 decades to help my patients feel good again, and more importantly, stay that way.
Many of my patients were struggling and in poor health like many of you. However, they didn’t give up and you shouldn’t either. You can listen to some of my patients share their stories here.
You can also listen to past teleconferences, view helpful videos and read the latest blogs and fibro protocols at this site.
Try not to define yourself by your illness. You must tell yourself that your life may changed, but you are in control of your illness, not the other way around. Instead of telling yourself that there is something wrong focus on where you can improve. It is important to remain active. If you sit around doing nothing, the pain will be so much worse and do nothing for your mental state. If you can find someone less fortunate than you and give a helping hand. If possible volunteer at your church a half day a week, whatever you can do to get you back engaged with life. Your body my achy and tired, I’m sure it is, but you are valuable person and have much to give.
Remember it is better to be proactive, do something anything to get healthy than simply give up. And remember progress does not happen overnight it takes time. Learning aout then taking the appropriate supplements, changing your diet, losing weight and or starting a gentle exercise routine will help you move forward in the right direction.
