Donna Beats Fibromyalgia

Donna From Missouri Working Personally With Dr. Murphree Beats Fibromyalgia

“I started having sleep problems where I think I was up all night just looking at the clock, couldn’t sleep … had a lot of fibro fog, confusion, mental clarity, I forgot things a lot, the pain was off the roof. The simplest task I couldn’t do, I was bedridden for months and months, I was socially isolated, I lost a lot of friends. I was the go-getter in the family and did family functions, birthdays, holidays and such … all of a sudden, I was knocked out of the water. I wasn’t myself ever again.

You were the most caring and thoughtful person, you’re just a miracle that came into my life. It’s a life changing experience for me where I was thinking I was dying, to now I’m back in the game of life again. I can do things with my family………. only have one life, you don’t have to lay down and suffer. There is someone to help and that’s Dr Murphree.”

Excerpt From Teleconference: Donna Shares Her Story

Dr. M:  Hi Donna, how are you?

Donna:  I’m doing great, how about you?

Dr. M:

I’m doing so well. I really appreciate you joining me tonight. I was going through your chart earlier today, just getting a briefing of what I wanted to talk about tonight and one of the notes I wrote in here – and I’ve put it in big bold letters … maybe we were about a month into this, you were doing great but you had told me “I really have some doubts about this thing.” You were skeptical at first but I’m so glad that you’ve done so well. Tell me a little about your history with your fibromyalgia. How did it start and what were some of your health challenges before we started working together?

Donna:

I think around 2004, they started uncovering it from previous years when I had pain and all kinds of symptoms. It gradually got worse and they still didn’t know what it was. I was going to pain management like you had started off in your introduction. I started having sleep problems where I think I was up all night just looking at the clock, couldn’t sleep … had a lot of fibro fog, confusion, mental clarity, I forgot things a lot, the pain was off the roof. Then I developed this thing called TMJ where my skull and my temples were swollen, I had grinding of my teeth and I had to get a mouthpiece for that, real bad headaches and a lot of fatigue, no energy. The simplest task I couldn’t do, I was bedridden for months and months, I was socially isolated, I lost a lot of friends. I was the go-getter in the family and did family functions, birthdays, holidays and such … all of a sudden, I was knocked out of the water. I wasn’t myself ever again. I had balance problems, I was twitching and jerking in the middle of the night … I was on 15 different medications; one for high BP, one was Xanax for nerves, muscle relaxers and the fibro meds, that made me totally confused. I had a car accident, I got lost in the mall, didn’t know where I was parking, I was on sleep medications, pain medications, it was bad.  I hate to say this but I actually thought I was dying. My daughter started doing research on it and she found you. She said, Mom I know you don’t understand stuff because you’ve got fibro fog but I think this is the right track to get on. I think it’s worth searching through this stuff and reading about him, and that’s how I came to know you Dr Murphree.

Dr. M:

I’m so glad that you did. What was it like because obviously it was a phone consult? You’re in Missouri and I’m in Birmingham, Alabama. What was it like working with me by phone?

Donna:

I can honestly say I felt every time we had a conference call, I was with you. I could see you and visualize you. You were the most caring and thoughtful person, you’re just a miracle that came into my life. It’s a life changing experience for me where I was thinking I was dying, to now I’m back in the game of life again. I can do things with my family. The phone calls, I felt like you were with me all the way.

Dr. M:

Your pain was like a lot of my patients. You had pain all over, your pain was pretty bad and the pain meds, the Vicodin and some of the meds that you were taking really were not doing much to help with the pain. I guess you really felt like you didn’t have many good options.

Donna:

That’s what the world thinks it is. They give you one medication and it causes symptoms, then another medication … it’s just a roller coaster of stuff and you don’t know what helps or doesn’t. The fibro medicine messed me up in the head completely.

Dr. M:

Tell me about your sleep issues because you really struggled with sleep. Tell me about how it was so bad and where it’s at now.

Donna:

I was sleeping maybe 1 hour a night. I would wake up all night in bed just thinking about things. It’s like your mind never shuts off, but now I sleep all night completely. It’s like a miracle. If people out there have sleeping problems, your protocols definitely can help them.

Dr. M:

We worked, it wasn’t that here’s a handful of stuff … you worked hard. You had gotten so run down and you had a lot of anxiety like a lot of my patients do, because they just feel so bad. Once we got that under control, it seems like things started falling into place. Tell me about your pain now.

Donna:

I get pain but I guess if you rate it from 0 to 5, 0 being the best and 5 being the worst, I think I would rate it 1 now. That’s exceptional to me.

Dr. M:

Yeah. I think that’s exceptional. Everybody is going to have pain from time to time, but it’s the difference between pain that you manage and the pain that manages you. For most people with fibromyalgia, they have pain that manages them and controls whether they go shopping or go to work or don’t go to work, or whatever it is. Yeah, there’s a big difference between those things. Tell me about the diet. One of the things we found was you had a low thyroid that no one had found, which is kind of crazy because of your numbers. You also lost weight on the anti-inflammatory diet.

Donna:

Yes, I did. I lost 25-30 pounds. I don’t think my intention was to lose a lot of weight but we tried to find out what foods I was allergic to … I found out I was allergic to dairy and, gluten. All I do is I eat clean now

Dr. M:

You changed your diet and a lot of people would say, I can’t do that because it’s too hard to do that. What would you say to those folks?

Donna:

I would say that’s not true. Definitely give that a chance too because you’d be surprised what you’re allergic to, that you don’t think you are.

Dr. M:

Is it worth it changing your diet?

Donna:

Yes, absolutely. It really makes a difference. You can tell you’re allergic to it or you don’t agree with it by the next day. You’re bloated, you’re gassy, you feel achy or something. Just think back to what did I eat the day before and bingo, that’s it.

Dr. M:

You had a lot of digestive issues like a lot of my patients have problems with IBS, which you know is really unpleasant. Tell me how is your digestion and bowel movements now.

Donna:

My digestion is really good. Before I couldn’t leave the house because I had IBS … it was like an explosion would go off and you didn’t know where you’re going to go. I guess I was on the program for a month and the IBS went away with a bunch of other things. I was on it maybe 3 weeks and your protocol absolutely helped me.

Dr. M:

What would you say to those people who are listening and have heard that once you have fibromyalgia, you just have to learn to live with it?

Donna:

There’s times when we fall sick and those are the hardest times you go through life, particularly if the sickness disrupts the course of your normal life and you find that you’re defined by it. You only have one life and I think it’s important for each and every one of us to reach out and do whatever it takes to get healthy again, may it be go to your website, read your free articles, look at the book and see if you see a reflection of yourself in the book at some point … maybe you’re on to something. I say go and call and make an appointment for a conference. It’s life changing, I would encourage them to at least look at the literature that’s free, read the book definitely and then make that call. You’ve heard of Charlie’s Angels, haven’t you?

Dr. M: I have.

Donna:  Well I call them Murphree’s angels, Juno and Gina.

Dr. M:

I appreciate you saying that, they certainly are angels. I couldn’t do without them, I wouldn’t want to do without them … I’m so blessed that God put them in my life. I’ve got this wonderful staff that is able to work with my patients, and I think everybody feels real comfortable when they work with our clinic because of them. They’re so good, they’ve been doing it for so many years that they know how to answer the questions and to help the person in the right way.

Donna:  They’re good people.

Dr. M:    They are. Is there anything you want to share in closing tonight?

Donna:

Just that you only have one life, you don’t have to lay down and suffer. There is someone to help and that’s Dr Murphree.

Dr. M: I appreciate that. Donna, you’ve worked really hard to get where you’re at and I’m so proud of you.

Donna:  Thank you Dr Murphree.

Dr. M: You’re welcome. Thanks for joining me tonight, I look forward to talking to you soon. Good night.
